"We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and solidarity towards Nicola. We are extremely grateful." This is what Serena Soddu wrote after the fundraiser she had launched "with a bit of embarrassment" on the GoFundMe platform reached and exceeded the target of 10 thousand euros in two days: money that was donated, thanks to a wave of solidarity, to help her partner, Nicola Airi, start over after someone in recent days had stolen and set fire to the van he used for work.

The image accompanying the appeal is eloquent: the vehicle is a blackened sheet metal skeleton, abandoned in the countryside.

"Nicola is in a difficult situation," the young woman wrote, "on February 17, his van that was parked under his house was stolen and on February 20, it was found completely burned. Nicola has always worked hard and with sacrifice to build a future for himself. His van was the heart of his business, the fruit of years of hard work and dedication. He had just finished paying for it, but someone decided to take everything away from him."

What happened "was not a simple act of vandalism, but a criminal act of great cruelty: they stole his van, his investment to be able to work, and then they set it on fire. But they didn't just burn his vehicle, they destroyed his work and now he finds himself without the tools to continue."

For this reason, "even if with a bit of embarrassment," the young woman added, "I decided to launch this fundraiser: we want to help him start again, to cover at least part of the damage." Objective achieved.
