Giulia died at the age of ten in 2018 but continues to live thanks to the commitment of her parents who, to deal with unbearable pain, founded the association " The dream of Giulia Zedda " and travel around Sardinia and Italy to present their book " I wanted to live in color” about a love cut short so soon by an illness that turned out to be incurable.
In Assemini an emotional crowd attended the meeting with the parents of the little girl who disappeared. «Giulia – say Alfio Zedda and Eleonora Galia – passed away in May 2018 and, as she herself had requested, in September we gave away her toys and clothes to children who needed them. Some friends had made a small room available to us in via Giardini, Giulia's games and clothes were joined by those of many other children and that room became the meeting place between people who donated clothes, games, strollers, equipment and school supplies and who came to collect what they needed for free. In fact, this is how the true operational nucleus of the Association was born."

Today the Association has its operational headquarters in Via Baronia 13 in Cagliari and thanks to donations from private individuals, the proceeds of the 5 per thousand, the donation of gadgets, it carries out various projects: it financially supports the journeys of hope of sick children in economic difficulty, it delivered furnishings for a room intended for pediatric oncohematology to the San Pietro hospital in Sassari, it delivered a pediatric ambulance to the San Michele hospital in Cagliari, it offers psychological support to the brothers and sisters of children suffering from cancer.

In collaboration with the non-profit organization Le stelle di Lorenzo, they make the dreams of children suffering from very serious illnesses and undergoing prolonged medical treatment come true. Doctors, psychologists, teachers and lawyers collaborate with the Il Sogno di Giulia Association and offer their advice free of charge. «A pastry chef also collaborates and gives us delicious birthday cakes to allow the children to celebrate at school together with their classmates», continue Alfio Zedda and Elenora Galia. «Families – they conclude – are going through a moment of serious economic crisis, protecting the smiles and serenity of children is the mission of our Association».
