He looked death in the face. And that's not just a figure of speech; on July 12, Cristian Musu, 52, showed up armed with a rifle at Mulinu Becciu's gym in Cagliari, where she teaches dance. He fired a shot at her, then, after walking away, turned the gun on himself and took his own life.

A chilling experience for Valentina Pilia. After weeks, she decided to break her silence with a video: "Because too many of us suffer some form of violence. Let's make some noise."

A vent. A video that acts like a pebble in a pond. Because she's alive, unlike other women who are victims of male violence, and she wants it not to happen to other women.

Musu had shown up at the gym from which he'd been kicked out due to his pushy behavior. He wanted to strike at what he'd dreamed of possessing, but was denied: a woman. It happened in Cagliari, as in so many other places before. But in Mulinu Brecciu, fortunately, the "target" woman survived.

"I was threatened and almost killed by a man. I'm deciding to tell this story because I'm here, I'm alive, and to publish it on my work profile because my job, along with my peace and serenity, has been violated. And because so many of us, too many of us, are still suffering some form of violence," says Valentina Pilia.
