New permits for road "cuts" have been suspended until agreements for restoration after the installation of underground utilities have been respected.

The Municipality has taken a hard line with the goal of improving urban decorum and, above all, the safety of Quartu's citizens.

"Since taking office, the administration," the City Hall recalls, "has worked on a comprehensive road paving program, which has resulted in 60 kilometers of roads to date, with plans for more under the fifth phase, for a total cost of €12 million . Underground services are certainly important for the city's growth and competitiveness, but it is absolutely essential that they be accompanied by adequate repairs."

"It is unacceptable to work daily and invest huge public resources only to see the city torn apart again . This is a matter of decorum and safety," said Mayor Graziano Milia. "Therefore, we demand that those working on the underground utilities, Enel first and foremost, respect the agreed-upon schedule . We have no intention of further tolerating these forms of superficiality: we want to guarantee citizens an adequate road system."

Numerous roads have been affected by underground construction work, which, unfortunately, has been abandoned without any concrete resurfacing, with serious consequences, even for pedestrians. A prime example is the area around the new Enel substation on Viale Colombo, where spontaneous vegetation has grown, confirming the long period of time that has passed since the work was completed. The same problems affect the intersection of Via Alghero and Via Sulis, but not only that: numerous repairs still need to be done, including on some of the recently paved roads, such as Via Manara, Via Copernico, and Via Panzini, to name a few.

The inspections initiated by the administration on the permits issued in 2025, through the specifically appointed municipal technician, are confirming, if further work is needed, the need to complete several interventions. Therefore, with regard to Enel, the administration will not issue any further permits until the restoration schedule for the 2025 interventions is completed.
