The splendid photo of Andrea Piras is from 2021. It is an expanse of clay pigeons at the former Poetto shooting range in Quartu Sant'Elena.

Now, this ceramic mass is no longer visible because it has slowly sunk under the sand. But the plates are still there. There is a reclamation project for which 450 thousand euros have been allocated which should start shortly.

The ceramic plates are not particularly polluting, the fact remains that they constitute a disgrace to nature, in an area of great naturalistic interest due to the presence of the pond, sand dunes, vegetation and animals characteristic of wetlands.

But with the clay pigeons, billions of lead shot also ended up in the pond. Those that are highly polluting and that it is now impossible to recover because sunk in the sand if not, what is worse, ended up in the stomach of flamingos.
