To restore clean beaches before the May Day long weekend, the cleaning of the Poetto beaches in the Quartu stretch from Alta Marea to Margine Rosso began in recent days .

Starting Friday, beach cleaners will also move along the coastline from Margine Rosso to Geremeas: a small tractor capable of navigating the coves will be used. However, there is currently a hurdle to overcome: the beach below the Margine Rosso railing is completely covered in seaweed, which here, unlike elsewhere, never disappeared after Cyclone Harry. And it seems unlikely that the vehicles will be able to get in to stir up the sand at this time. Because the beach cleaners' job is precisely to stir up the sand and remove any traces of glass or syringes that may have been left on the shore after nights of heavy drinking.

Beach cleaning will continue every day, including holidays, until September .

In addition to the beach cleaners, workers are also carrying out manual cleaning. And starting tomorrow, the recycling centers will begin to be installed both at Poetto and along the coast. They are the same as last year, with wooden bins for sorting plastic, glass, and paper, topped with umbrella-like coverings for greater decor. And concurrent with the beach cleaning, the promenade will continue to be cleaned, with bins emptied wherever possible due to construction work.

Meanwhile, along the coast, especially in the Sant'Andrea area, protests are continuing over the presence of reeds that, during the cyclone, were washed into the sea and then onto the beaches from the Foxi River.
