Bluetongue returns to Sardinian farms, with three outbreaks discovered in September.

The bluetongue is once again causing fear in the Sardinian countryside.

The beginning of September also marks the return of the virus to the island's livestock farms. Two outbreaks were identified by the Teramo Zooprophylactic Institute, a national reference center, in the Sassari area, in Mores and Perfugas.

Both were confirmed on September 11 and 15, respectively, according to the national veterinary epidemiological bulletin on bluetongue outbreaks.

In Mores the outbreak is of serotype 3, in Perfugas of serotype 4.

At the beginning of the month, on September 2nd, an outbreak discovered in late August in Senorbì was also confirmed . This case involves serotype 8.
