Sport, culture, excursions, workshops. All with one common denominator: promoting sustainable and responsible tourism. Quartu is also participating for the first time in the Itacà national project with the support, among others, of the Municipality, Molentargius Park and Fai.

New proposals, but also experiments already underway such as the international LGBT tennis tournament , for the second consecutive year in Quartu.

«It has already been a success - explains Alberto Zoncheddu , organizer of the LGBT tennis tournament - and in the 2023 edition it is confirmed with a growing number of members. In fact, athletes from all over the world will participate: almost all European countries, the USA, New Zealand. Sport thus becomes the driving force of the city's tourist economy. And it thus becomes a tool for tourism and to fight discrimination".

Another example: the tourism initiatives equipped for the disabled , with attention to accessibility and hospitality for those with special needs.

«Our satisfaction - explains the organizer of the initiative Roberto Matta - is due not only to the fact of having brought Quartu into this event, but to having done so following a selection that has seen our territory rewarded with all its uniqueness and potential. Responsible tourism creates a virtuous awareness also among sector operators, capable of improving the offer and making it truly within everyone's reach. With Itacà we will also focus on slow tourism: ecotourism, trekking, cycling».

There will also be room for kayaking, sailing and golf . The program also includes the promotion of typical local products , with initiatives dedicated to telling and tasting local products at zero km.

«It is important - concludes Matta - to have managed to put over 50 different realities online for the first time , making them dialogue with each other and creating positive synergies. A first step towards the creation of a Destination Management Organization in Quartu».

Coldiretti in the field on Saturday morning with the Agrimarket: seasonal fruit, bread and cheese on display. And there will also be a bakery workshop and a tasting of craft beers. Also cultural tourism. «We wanted to join Ithaca because there is a beautiful nuraghe in the Quartese area, - explained Maria Carmela Solinas , president of Nuragica -. Those who live the Nuragic experience can then return to the reality of the monumental site of Is Mortorius, and vice versa: those who visit the nuraghe Diana can then visit the exhibition and be transported back to those distant times».
