Fnaarc Confcommercio Sud Sardegna is calling for "structural measures capable of limiting the impact of price fluctuations and an update on car-related taxation." In Sardinia, according to collected data, "self-service diesel has reached an average of €2.146 per liter, ten thousandths more than the national average of €2.136. Gasoline has also steadily exceeded the €2 threshold, settling on the island at €2.027 per liter, compared to the Italian average of €2.015."

"In Sardinia, the high cost of diesel fuel weighs twice: on the price at the pump and on the distances we are forced to travel," says Giuliano Cadoni , president of Fnaarc Confcommercio Sud Sardegna. "For a salesperson, a car isn't a convenience, and filling up the tank isn't an accessory to the family budget: they're tools and work costs. Every increase at the pump means spending more simply to be able to carry out one's business." The extension of the excise tax cut guarantees another two days of reduction, but for Fnaarc it doesn't solve the problem of cost planning.

"We recognize the efforts made by the Government in a complex international situation, but a 48-hour extension is not a prospect," Cadoni continues. "On August 27th, we will continue to travel the same roads, visit the same customers, and incur the same costs. What is missing is certainty . A business, a professional, or a sales agent cannot plan their activity two days at a time." Added to this, Fnaarc denounces, is a tax system that remains stuck in the past.

"In Sardinia," Cadoni concludes, " with diesel at €2.146 per liter, we're not simply talking about expensive fuel : we're talking about a direct increase in the cost of doing business. Sales agents are on the road all year round. They need certainty that lasts more than 48 hours."
