No barrels in Quartu in the week of New Year.

This was decided by the mayor Graziano Milia, who issued an ordinance with the aim, explains the Municipality, of "protecting public peace, the safety of people, in particular the elderly, children and heart patients, and to protect from negative consequences pets ".

The ban on detonating firecrackers and the like in all public and private areas will be valid between 11 pm on December 30th and midnight on January 6th 2022.

"For several years - reads a press release released by the administration - the habit of celebrating the holidays by launching and detonating firecrackers of various kinds and other fireworks has become widespread. Despite the fact that they must always comply with rigorous construction standards, since they are explosive materials there is an objective danger of causing physical damage, even of considerable entity, not only in those who handle them, but also in those, people, but also animals, who could be accidentally hit.

The need has therefore emerged to protect people and animals from the inconvenience caused, counteracting the prevaricating, aggressive and substantially incivil behaviors caused by such explosions, which feed the perception of discomfort and the sense of insecurity in citizens, harmed in their right to health and to tranquility, civil coexistence and public safety, with the consequence of not being able to freely use urban spaces.

The device signed by the Mayor Milia therefore orders the holders of pyrotechnic material not authorized to carry out pyrotechnic events the prohibition of detonating firecrackers and fireworks of any kind in public and even private areas when they produce consequences on public spaces, starting from 11pm of 30 December and until midnight of 6 January 2022 ".
