In nine months financing, tender, execution of the works and testing. A small record, almost a miracle compared to the forty years of waiting during which the Municipalities of Genuri and Setzu have repeatedly - and in vain - asked the Province of Southern Sardinia for intervention in the nine kilometers of Provincial Road 45, from the Turri and Tuili on the border with Oristano.

And, tired of waiting, the mayors Sandro Branca (Genuri) and Sandro Palla (Setzu) did it themselves.

Branca, as soon as he took office, had asked for a dossier on Provincial 45, discovering that «every administrator had asked the Province to intervene, without any success. I myself turned to the competent office, they replied that the interventions are carried out based on the distance covered, i.e. the number of vehicles crossing the road. Since Genuri is the last municipality at the bottom left of the Medio Campidano, they would never have intervened."

Hence the pact with the nearby mayor Palla and the commitment to guarantee safety on the road used not only by residents but also by tourists.

With around one million and 800 thousand euros the matter was resolved and thanks to the low bid, work was carried out on the urban section of the SP45 in Genuri and road works and a water containment grid were created in Setzu.

In short, «the demonstration of how inadequate the Province is, give the money to the Municipalities and things will be completed. It's not just the SP 45, the provincial road that leads to the UNESCO site Su Nuraxi in Barumini is in pitiful conditions", concludes Branca.

The commissioner of the Southern Sardinia Province Mario Mossa sends the accusations of inefficiency back to the sender: «Here we work, of course. If any mayor says otherwise, come and I will show him that every euro has been invested in construction sites that have started or are being opened."
