The Court of Sassari acquitted two shepherds who ended up on trial after the protests over the price of milk in 2019. They were accused of assaulting tanker vans.

The two, Gianfranco Fois , 45, and Pier Mario Salis , 52, both from Burgos, defended by the lawyer Margherita Baragliu, were found not guilty.

They were accused of having taken part in the attack on a van carrying food. The vehicle had been stopped by dozens of protesters on highway 131, near Thiesi.

The driver had been forced to get out of the van and open the tailgate to have his load checked. According to the indictment he had been threatened and intimidated by hooded and misrepresented protesters. The charge fell today before the judge, who acquitted both defendants.
