Porto Torres has been witnessing the growing degradation of more and more old and abandoned buildings for too long, dilapidated buildings that have not been used for some time, from the historic center to the suburbs.

The Municipality has the task of resorting to remedial measures, through a series of trade union ordinances to oblige the owners to restore the safety of the buildings and guarantee their static consolidation. This is the case of the building in via Largo Sabelli, at the corner of via Mentana , a two-story building with structural problems.

Following an inspection, the firefighters filed a report showing the strong criticalities and the static instability of some walls .

The provincial command team that intervened on the spot proceeded to carry out an inspection, both outside and inside the building, during which a state of deep cracking was found which affected the perimeter masonry for its entire thickness and, inside, the attic of the intermediate floor with a rotation of the corner portion of the building, for the entire height, in the direction of Largo Sabelli.

In order to avert a possible danger to people, in agreement with the personnel of the Local Police command present on site, steps were taken to prohibit access to the building and to delimit the area facing the building .

"If safety measures are not carried out, the dangerous situation could evolve negatively, putting public and private safety at risk", the report writes.

Therefore the mayor Massimo Mulas has issued an ordinance which obliges the owners to guarantee immediate intervention , and in any case no later than 15 days from notification of the ordinance, for the restoration and safety of any other unsafe part of the building, with the execution of the works aimed at the static consolidation and rehabilitation of the building, in order to avoid the risk of collapses and sagging.
