A large cut to the carapace, a deep wound presumably due to the blade of a brushcutter, operated to clear the ground.
The victim is a large land turtle, one of the many protected specimens that walk on private land, along via Benedetto Croce, one of the areas facing the Porto Torres seafront.
The armor was seriously damaged, probably by someone who unknowingly activated the grass cutter, and there was nothing to do for the animal. However hard and leathery the "armor" may suffer severe trauma, especially if it ends up under a brushcutter.
In this case, the turtle, hidden among the fronds, had a good part of its bone tissue removed, with injuries to the spine which led to its death.
Many passersby who noticed the serious wound of the poor animal, in one of the green areas, near the Baden Powell park, where there are several specimens of land tortoises.
