The temptation of friends is to take the cell phone and call him. Friends don't want to believe in the tragedy. Luca Baraghini, was only 22 years old, he would have turned 23 in November.
In Porto Torres he had just begun to build his future. A newly renovated house, new furnishings, a steady job in a fish product company, the first dream car. Projects flown away in a few moments. A short life path without ever a word too many.
"It is difficult to realize that it is no more". He died on the job: he left Porto Torres to head to Stintino, one of those deliveries to the fish cooperative. A distraction, perhaps an illness, loses control of the car and the Iveco 35 van collides with a Volvo v40 on the provincial road to Stintino , near Pozzo San Nicola. The driver of the car, a 60-year-old from Sassari, was seriously injured in the accident.
Luca was very popular in the city. “Sunny, lively and responsible” despite his 22 years. The teachers of the Mario Paglietti Nautical Institute remember him. The school where he obtained his diploma in 2018 at the Capitani address.
“A very special boy - says Barbara Barabino, math teacher - always respectful towards his classmates and teachers. Never a word out of place, diligent and with good results in studies ".
After graduating he had always committed himself to work. He hadn't disdained smiles and kindnesses to any of the many patrons of the Cristallo bar, the place in the heart of the city, where he had served before arriving at the Rivieccio fish farm.
"He had participated in the school and work alternation project with the Superintendency - says Franco Satta, prime minister - a golden boy, available and generous that no one will be able to forget". A drama that strikes a city already marked by a tragedy: last Saturday's murder of retired policeman Basilio Saladdino.
Luca Baraghini leaves behind a partner and two children. The funeral will take place on Sunday morning at 11.15 at the basilica of San Gavino.
