A 36-year-old woman from the Sassari hinterland ended up in handcuffs for complicity in the skilful theft of a wallet stolen from an 83-year-old elderly man from Porto Torres.

The episode occurred yesterday, Sunday 4 February, inside the Lidl supermarket in Via Principe di Piemonte. The soldiers of the Radiomobile of the Porto Torres Carabinieri also reported a sixteen-year-old, a twenty-one-year-old and a nineteen-year-old in a state of freedom, all seriously suspected of having participated in the theft and of attempting to use one of the credit cards kept in the wallet.

At the time of the mugging, the elderly man immediately asked for help. The patrol intervened promptly on the spot and stopped the alleged culprit together with her supporters at the McDonald's in Porto Torres, just as they were trying to use one of the credit cards.

Upon seeing the soldiers, they tried in vain to flee to get rid of the stolen goods, which were later partially recovered and returned to the victim. The 36-year-old's arrest was validated and the woman was placed under house arrest.
