Joint and synergic action between the Port Authority of Porto Torres and the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia, to remove the old boats that illegally occupied the slipway and launching of the Torres intended for small fishing and pleasure craft , located in the port area near Via Mare. The boats, some of which were half-sunken , abandoned and in very poor condition , made the slipway and launching activity difficult, creating inconvenience for port users interested in the operations, often forced to use alternative slipways.
The operation, which began this morning and ended around 1:00 p.m., was carried out thanks to the intervention of a specialized company, commissioned by the Port Authority, with the use of a lifting crane and the assistance of underwater operators, who worked with precision to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the operation. The wrecks removed were sent for disposal in accordance with current legislation, with the exception of a fishing vessel which is subject to a seizure order and for which it was ordered to be transferred to a storage area on land. The operation was carried out under the coordination of the Turritana Maritime Authority, which ensured that the operations were carried out in compliance with current regulations on navigation safety and environmental protection.
"Today's activity is part of the broader effort made by the two Authorities responsible for the co-governance of the port of Turritano - explains the commander of the Coast Guard, Giuseppe Cannarile - in order to enhance the services provided to marine users and redevelop some port areas, making them fully available to the city community, as well as safeguarding the necessary decorum of the port area".
