The sign that communicates to air and maritime transport workers that they will not be able to enjoy healthcare in Porto Torres, a notice that reads " in this medical office no visits to air navigation personnel are carried out ", had alarmed the category. Around two thousand users from the surrounding area use the service.
The appointment of a new ASL doctor will be made, however, in the next few days, and he will still be operational in via Iosto with the same functions carried out until 31 August.
The closure of the clinic as indicated by the sign had created inconvenience and concern among maritime workers. The Sasn clinics, territorial services for health care for sailing, maritime and civil aviation personnel, managed by the Ministry of Health, are aimed at maritime personnel, at sea or on board, even if on land for periods of stopover or compensatory rest, or waiting for boarding, provided that they have a contract available to the owner, therefore provided with a navigation logbook, in addition to the aircrew personnel, for the duration of the employment relationship.
"We hope that the inconvenience does not last too long - say the seafarers - because for many of us it is absolutely important, in particular for the biannual checks on suitability for navigation".
