The investigating judge Giovanni Paolo Piana of the Court of Sassari declared inadmissible the request for abbreviated procedure conditional on the psychiatric report , requested by Nicola Lucchi, defense lawyer of the murderer Fulvio Baule , the 40-year-old from Ploaghe who on 26 February last, in Porto Torres, he brutally killed both his in-laws, Caterina Mancusa and Basilio Saladdino, with an ax, also reducing his ex-wife Ilaria Saladdino to death .

In chambers, the judge accepted the request made by the prosecutor Enrica Angioni, rejecting the abbreviated judgment for aggravated homicide, a crime for which the law provides for the penalty of life imprisonment, determined by the aggravating circumstances of cruelty and by the futile reasons for which the crime has been committed. Therefore the trial will continue according to the immediate judgement, with the first hearing scheduled for November 29th . The self-confessed defendant, Fulvio Baule, also appeared in the courtroom, on whom from an initial examination the consultant Mario Deriu, appointed by the defense, would have found " psychiatric psychopathological disorders classified as borderline personality disorder , and capable of carrying out aggressive actions against third parties and against himself ". The request for a psychiatric expert opinion can also be made during the immediate trial.

The lawyers Gian Mario Solinas and Gabriele Satta will appear as a civil party, present together with Giusy Saladdino, accompanied by her husband Franco, both custodians of the children of Ilaria Saladdino, the twins in front of whom the chilling double murder and the assault took place towards their mother.
