The phenomenon of indiscriminate waste dumping is growing. In Solanas, as in the village of Mimose, landfills are popping up around the bins set up for separate waste collection. These sorts of collection centers exist in suburban areas (such as Monte Cresia), where door-to-door collection is not practiced. This phenomenon is extremely difficult to combat. This was also discussed at the last City Council meeting. The local police, also using technological imaging devices, have been carrying out enforcement activities for some time.

In a statement today, the Municipality announced that " the operations have identified dozens of individuals responsible for transforming certain areas into veritable illegal landfills . The confirmed violations have resulted in reports of crimes, which will lead to legal proceedings against the offenders. Respect for the environment and urban decorum is a priority for our community. We will continue to ensure constant monitoring, both directly and through technological tools, to ensure that polluters do not go unpunished and that law-abiding citizens do not suffer the consequences of the uncivilized behavior of a few."

"The Administration," the statement concludes, "invites citizens to cooperate by reporting any incidents of illegal littering, reminding them that proper waste disposal is a civic duty and a shared responsibility for the common good." And there are those who recommend eliminating these suburban "collection centers," eliminating the garbage dumps and seeking solutions through door-to-door collection, even among homes in the mountains or far from residential areas. This solution should be found at least during the summer months.
