The city of Porto Torres celebrates the return of its tourist port, a modern structure that guarantees a high safety standard and remarkable aesthetic quality. The ribbon cutting this morning with a ceremony attended, in addition to the various military, civil and institutional authorities, also by the president of the Port System Authority, Massimo Deiana, the commander of the Port Authority, Giuseppe Cannarile, and the deputy mayor Simona Fois.

A completely redeveloped “Nino Pala” quay capable of hosting 300 pleasure craft, boats from 5 to 35 meters in length, and a new target, namely yachts from 20 to 35 metres, ten luxury boats in a reserved landing area of approximately one hundred meters.

The careful restyling, completed by the concessionaire Naurica Service, gives boaters a series of efficient services and a new clubhouse to welcome customers. The entire state-owned structure has a total surface area of 16,850 square metres, including bodies of water, artefacts, works and a parking area. Nautica Service will manage the tourist landing place, granted under concession by the Port Authority, until 17 October 2034, for a total fee of more than 1 million and 91 thousand euros.

«The novelty is the segment of units from 20 to 35 meters which has never been present in Porto Torres - explains Giovanni Conoci, partner of Nautica Service - this is due to the lack of moorings. Today we can host boats of a higher target, an added value that creates wealth so that this port can play an important role both in tourist boating, as we are at the center of the Gulf of Asinara, and in manufacturing due to issues of conformation of the coast". Conoci wanted to thank its partners, Antonello Gadau, Paolo Parodi and other collaborators such as Vincenzo Grieco, who allowed us to wish the structure well.

«The tourist port of Porto Torres has a functional importance, because we give back to the port a compendium of quality and beauty, for services and also aesthetics – declares Massimo Deiana – but above all it is strategically relevant, because it is an outpost for recovering the eastern part of the historic port which will have a recreational tourist function. This means that as soon as we finish the work on the travel lift, this valuable area will be freed up, including the promenade up to the High Seabed quay which will be dedicated to the landing of cruise ships, with space for pleasure crafting also in the fishing dock".

The redevelopment works involved the total renovation of the electrical system, two new floating groynes consisting of four piers each, a new mooring system for piers and boats consisting of new dead bodies and catenaries. In addition to the floating breakwater pier to protect the starboard side of the dock and the entire dock, the new asphalt of the yards, with the creation of parking and rest areas, with electric car charging stations. An ecological island for separate waste collection, video surveillance and wifi service. There is an entrance reserved for customers with cars and a pedestrian gate open to the public. «We are equipping ourselves to intercept the large traffic of recreational nautical tourism that passes through the Straits of Bonifacio and northern Sardinia, coming from the east, i.e. from the Ligurian coasts of the Gulf of Tigullio and from those of Tuscany, Lazio, Campania», adds Conici, «to do this we must welcome the nautical tourist as if in a hospitality facility, where yachtsmen live on the quay, and can be welcomed by staff who know how to speak languages and who know how to illustrate the city».
