Eight thousand kilometers traveled on the roads of the countryside, nine extinguished fires, thirty-three illegal landfills registered and more than ten thousand hours of prevention activities.
These are some of the numbers contained in the annual report presented by the Barracellar Company of Porto Torres led by Commander Gavino Cuccu.
The document contains the results of the service carried out from 1st October 2021 to 30th September 2022 .
In this period the company has been engaged on several fronts : from the more strictly institutional ones provided for by law to the management of public order during events and demonstrations, passing through surveillance along the marine belt, the presence at the entrance of some school complexes at the beginning and at the end of the lessons, and also carrying out preventive activities in crimes related to pedophilia and drug dealing.
The Company also operated on the health front on the occasion of anti-Covid vaccinations. For the prevention and fight against fires 2,650 hours divided into 275 duty shifts in the period from 1 June to 30 October alone; 8,644 kilometers covered in service activity from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022; 9 fire extinguishing interventions in the countryside: 9 extinguishing on the order of the Central Op of the Cfva of Sassari, outside the territory. In addition, 10,473 hours of service in other prevention activities, 33 illegal landfills, 7,800 euros for the 13 contested penalties.
In the various activities, the barracelli work in collaboration with the local police, the carabinieri and the Cfva station of Porto Torres, the municipal offices and the council. In drawing up the budget, Commander Cuccu reminds us that it is possible to enlist in the Company : the appeal is addressed to those who have not yet turned 50.
