A single direction to “run” the port works, necessary to design the relaunch project of the maritime port of Porto Torres. This is the line of the mayor Massimo Mulas, the development perspective to restore dignity to a port in the center of the Mediterranean, equipped with an enormous water basin but poorly furnished and even less used. «Our need is to establish a regional commissionership, - says the mayor - a single direction on the works to be carried out and still in progress to speed up the timing, a step that only the Sardinia Region can ask the Ministry, so that a series of bureaucratic obstacles can be overcome that prevent the port of Porto Torres from growing and block the development of an entire territory of the North West of Sardinia».

The mayor traces the path to escape from the quagmire in which the port of Turritano has remained trapped. At risk is the Antemurale di Ponente, the infrastructure work worth over 30 million, awaited for about ten years, times that could slip again. The increase in prices, the cause of the stop, after a complex process that has seen 21 prescriptions observed. "Someone maliciously forgets that we are an island and the port is fundamental for a city like this, the thirteenth in Sardinia - adds Mulas - so we ask for a privileged channel specific rules so that we do not have to wait another 15 years to see a work finished". The list of port infrastructures to be completed does not include the excavation in the water basin in the center of the Dogana Segni dock. "Work that could be carried out independently of the Antemurale", says the mayor.

«And then the setback of one of the existing docks of the Antemurale, because it means having one less mooring – he adds – and the one in the Alti Fondali where a rock prevents the landing, without neglecting the decorum of the civic port, which overlooks the city but lacks walkways and sidewalks, as well as a whole series of protections in place of the unsightly New Jersey barrier». And then there is the industrial port, with hectares of potentially productive back-port areas but which have been idle for too long. «With the Port Authority we are working to create new docks, through a significant reclamation basin, in the section between the breakwater and the Secchi pier. To do this we need quick times, while every time we move, it takes about 15 years to see a work completed and completed». In recent weeks, the mayor had illustrated the various dossiers to the governor, Alessandra Todde, to give legs to the actions necessary to make the second port of the Island, functional and operational. In the next few days the hearing of the president of the Port Authority, Massimo Deiana, summoned to a joint commission, at the request of the minority council group.
