And after the condemnation of the former Syndial executives in the "Darsena Veleni" case, the civil parties will also receive the settlement of the compensation for moral damages caused by the environmental pollution of the water mirror of the industrial port of Porto Torres.

Fifty thousand euros each to Giovanni and Alessandro Polese, owners of a shipyard in the area, another 10 thousand euros each was credited to the four associations Anpana, Lega anticaccia, Asinara Gulf Committee and Capsa, the Protection and Sustainability Action Committee environment for north-west Sardinia. Another 200 thousand euros to the Ministry, 100 thousand to the Region and the Municipality of Porto Torres are in the liquidation phase.

The three Syndial executives paid the immediately executive provisional compensation for damages, sentenced to one year in prison according to the sentence of the third criminal section of the Supreme Court of Cassation, presided over by judge Luca Ramacci who on 16 March rejected the appeal presented by the defense lawyers, Piero Arru, Luigi Stella and Fulvio Simoni, Grazia Volo and Riccardo Olivo, confirming the sentence imposed against three former Syndial managers, Francesco Papate, Oscar Cappellazzo and Gian Antonio Saggese, convicted on appeal by the Court of Sassari, in December 2021, for the crimes of culpable environmental disaster and disfigurement of natural beauties .

«It is the only process on the environmental disaster that shines - explains Pina Zappetto, lawyer of the Asinara and Capsa Committee - because the judge of the Cassation rejected the appeal of Eni's defense , a process which confirms in all three levels of judgment that the there was pollution , as emerged from the same appeal process which ended with the recognition of the serious benzene pollution of the Darsena Servizi».

But the real game opens with the civil suit that the individual civil parties have decided to bring to obtain the quantum of environmental damage compensation. Representing the Polese company, the Ministry of the Environment, the Region and the Municipality of Porto Torres are respectively the lawyers Pierluigi Carta, Giandomenico Tenaglia, Alessandra Putzu and Antonello Urru.
