Flurry of anti-poaching checks, coordinated by the Cites Carabinieri Unit of Cagliari, in the mountainous and rural areas of Southern Sardinia.

A crackdown that has recently led to the report of a man resident in Cagliari, caught in Quartucciu with ten specimens of birds (goldfinches, siskins, serins and greenfinches) that were apparently captured illegally, in violation of the rules on habitat protection and wild birds.

During the checks, a veterinarian resident in Elmas was also fined a total of ten thousand euros and must answer for non-compliance with the obligation to communicate changes in the place of custody of protected animals, as established by the Washington Convention on the international trade of species of wild flora and fauna threatened with extinction.
