Four people reported, in addition to the seizure of more than 150 illegally captured specimens and 120 bird trapping nets .
This is the result of an anti-poaching operation by the Forestry Corps and Environmental Surveillance of the Teulada Station.
During checks to combat poaching, Forestry personnel caught four people red-handed in the agro-mountainous areas of Domus de Maria and Teulada, who were placing nets to capture birds and setting up illegal feeding stations for wild boars .
Fifteen birds, robins and thrushes, were immediately released, along with five goats trapped in the nets. House searches were then carried out, which led to the seizure of over 150 birds and all the nets used in the illegal poaching activity .
The operation and intensified controls are part of the measures set forth in the National Action Plan to Combat Illegal Activities Against Wild Birds , coordinated by the Ministry of the Environment and led in Sardinia by the Forestry Corps. The penalties for bird trapping and illegal feeding of wild fauna, it is noted, can reach up to one year in prison.
