The sand, shell and pebble thieves are back in action with the start of the summer season. In these days, the Olbia Finance Police on duty at the Isola Bianca port carried out the usual checks on passengers when boarding for Livorno.

They stopped a 50-year-old from Campania residing in the province of Lucca who was traveling with his family. In the luggage, pebbles weighing over 1.6 kg were found, which the man said he had collected from the Isola Rossa beach and was not aware of the law that prohibits their removal from their habitat.

Overall, the environmental police activity at the beginning of summer made it possible to recover over 5 kg of shells, pebbles and sand taken from Sardinian beaches: everything will be returned to the places from which the removal took place according to the indications provided by the offenders themselves.
