The accident of an airliner with about a hundred passengers on board and its ditching on Tuesday 5 September in the waters under the responsibility of the Port Authority of Olbia will be simulated, which will host the international search and rescue exercise at sea "Squalo 2023 ".

The operation is coordinated by the 16th Maritime Rescue Sub Center of the Olbia Coast Guard. Air and naval means, with the involvement of men and units from various entities, administrations and armed forces, including foreign ones, will be used for the simulation off Capo Coda Cavallo.

In the port of Olbia an advanced medical station will be set up by the health authorities where the shipwrecked and wounded will be disembarked. The exercise will be attended by observers from Greece, Malta, Morocco, France, Cyprus and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.
