The UNESCO protective wall surrounding World Heritage sites has been shattered. The restrictions imposed by regulations passed by Draghi himself have been set aside. And the regional law on suitable areas has been ignored as if it were a dead letter. In this context, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has given the green light to approximately 86 hectares of photovoltaic panels in the Putifigari area, divided across two fields that the Rome-based company Ine Seddonai Srl wants to install in the localities of Seddonai and Monte Siseri. And it matters little that the latter name also belongs to a Domus de Janas necropolis located right there and supposedly surrounded by A buffer zone to protect it from human aggression and "progress": agrivoltaic panels have been authorized within the protected area, despite the opposition of the Ministry of Culture, which wanted to protect Sardinia's history and archaeology.
The decree blessing the project was issued by the Mase on October 3. And the committees against energy speculation are promising to fight on all possible fronts.
"Recently, Environment Minister Pichetto Fratin said that the Sardinian electricity grid is unable to withstand the impact of the renewable energy production plants currently being approved in Sardinia," explains Maria Grazia Demontis, president of the Gallura coordination group, active on all fronts on the island. "So why was this authorization granted in this case, in an area highly protected by UNESCO, with a vast list of archaeological sites?" The law on suitable areas "isn't even being considered, but we've known this for some time now. However, reading the documents," Demontis adds, "in this case, the green light has been given in an area protected by the Urbani code, which is even referenced in Draghi's energy measures." The committees "have no choice but to file complaints, because there is no longer any legislative scope for administrative appeals." The battle continues.
