Other people could have been swept away when a small boat carrying 14 migrants struck a 17-year-old tourist at 5 p.m. yesterday at Su Giudeu, on the famous Chia beach in the Domus de Maria area. The boat was near the buoy marking the access lane for boats to land.

The impact caused her to fracture her arm and perhaps her head, causing her to lose consciousness, so much so that she may have started drowning.

The 118 emergency helicopter arrived within moments, where doctors disembarked and assisted the girl for at least half an hour before transporting her on board and flying her urgently to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, where she is still under observation.

From some witnesses , the details of the failed rescue emerged: the small boat, in its alleged escape, also risked overwhelming other people in the water and only stopped at Tuerredda, a few kilometers away. There, however, its occupants were stopped by the military, who identified them and then, after several hours, put them on a bus that took them to the hotspot in Monastir.
