Some managed to avoid it by jumping on it, while others stumbled over it until it was carried away.

Last night, during the Corsa degli Scalzi from the village of San Salvatore to Cabras , an amateur photographer waited for the police escorting the 900 men to pass by and then positioned himself in the centre of the dirt track.

Moments of fear and a great deal of anger on the part of the runners who risked serious injury . And now the Municipality is working to track down the photographer and fine him .

The same incident occurred on Saturday morning, but in that case the photographer moved faster.

Despite the comprehensive security plan implemented by the municipality and the prefecture, with the presence of hundreds of workers from Cabras to the village of San Salvatore and law enforcement officers in cars and motorcycles, some people managed to invade the road, endangering their own lives and those of many others.

"It's the same old story," vented Alessio Camedda, president of the Is Curridoris association, which organizes the race . "We risked serious injuries . This is all serious. Why are we still risking falling to the ground today? At this point, we'll ask for ropes to be installed along the entire dirt road, as happened in part of Via Tharros in Cabras."

Andrea Carta is the runner who acted as a shield: "I found myself facing the man, and since I hadn't lost my balance, I tried to keep the others behind me from falling on top of him. Then three other runners grabbed him and pushed him to the side of the road. He looked at me in fear; he didn't understand anything anymore."

The video (WATCH) , which also landed on social media, has gone viral and is sparking a lot of comments against those who put the Scalzi in danger.

Cabras Mayor Andrea Abis: "I don't want to spark controversy over the security plan, which in my opinion has worked well. Besides, it's not possible to secure the entire eight kilometers; it wouldn't make sense. Anyone who wants to get in the middle of the road can do so in a fraction of a second; stopping them would be impossible. What happened is very serious. It's pure carelessness . The video of the road invasion, which is also circulating on social media, is already in the hands of the local police, who are working to track down the photographer. We don't rule out taking significant action."
