Over two thousand signatures have been collected in a few days to support the petition launched on Change.org by a young couple and forcefully request the reopening of the Birth Point of the Civil Hospital of Alghero.
Davide and Sara , who will soon become parents, like many other families in Alghero, find themselves facing the serious problem of not having a point of reference in the city, because the Obstetrics department has been closed for months for renovation work .
"But now that the work has been completed, the birthing center is not yet operational," they explain. The request is simple: immediately reopen an essential service for the community. "The permanent closure of this department would put the well-being of many families at risk and leave a void in one of the largest provinces in Italy . The lack of staff, especially pediatricians, cannot justify a decision that would deprive thousands of people of a fundamental right: health during pregnancy and childbirth," conclude Sara and Davide, inviting everyone, including through social media, to sign the petition.
