She became a widow at 45, with six children to raise. A long life of sacrifice and teachings, which she now passes on to her thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Today, Carolina Mura turned 100.

She divides her time between Perdasdefogu, her hometown, Cagliari, and Villagrande, where her children live. She is a bookworm, so much so that she keeps a mini library at home. Religious enough to recite several rosaries a day, prayer is a constant in her daily life.

She taught her children Gianni, Angelo, Antonio, Giampaolo, Mario, and Maria three cardinal principles: study, work, and honesty. Two years after becoming a widow (it was 1969 when her husband, Cesare Mura, died at work in Germany), Carolina Mura moved to Cagliari with her children, who were raised surrounded by the legend of Gigi Riva.

His grandmother, Caterina Corgiolu, was the first centenarian of Perdasdefogu: she died at the age of 101.
