The person responsible for the fire set last December 4 inside the offices used by the social services staff of Alghero has been identified. The Carabinieri of Alghero have ascertained that the suspect, after having forced the entrance door of the premises in Lo Quarter, sprinkled all the furnishings with paper soaked in ethyl alcohol and stole 3 personal computers. Before leaving, presumably in order to hide any traces, he decided to set fire to the paper causing damage, in addition to the furnishings, also to the electrical system and the IT equipment present.

The investigators had immediately started the investigations by carrying out a thorough inspection "which allowed
to find fingerprint traces potentially attributable to the offender and to seize the objects
used to access the premises. Footage from numerous security systems was also acquired
video surveillance, both public and private, whose footage has allowed us to reconstruct exactly the
route taken by the man to leave the municipal offices, until he returned home", reads a note.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Sassari, agreeing with the investigative hypothesis, has therefore issued a
search warrant against the suspect, the execution of which allowed the discovery ,
the man's house, the clothes he used on the night of December 4th and to recover
the entire stolen goods
(in fact, the following day the same suspect returned the 3 stolen personal computers, which were returned to the Municipal Administration)
