The arrest of Salvatore Mattu, the sixty-year-old who last Wednesday evening, after an argument with a forty-nine-year-old farmer, Giovanni Casula, climbed onto the tractor and hit him with the bucket, causing serious injuries to his legs, has been validated.

Today the investigating judge of the Court of Oristano validated the arrest and issued a new measure: Mattu remains in prison. According to the judge, he can commit the same crime again.

The Carabinieri reconstructed what happened in the countryside of Paulilatino. The two argued over the use of a country road. The victim, driving her car, was heading to a farm in Funtana Sassu when the sixty-year-old on board a farm vehicle got in front of the car, stopping it and attempting to overturn the vehicle with the tractor's bucket.

Casula, frightened, got out of the car trying to prevent it from overturning but Mattu, after putting it in reverse, moved forward again and, wedging him between the car and the agricultural vehicle, hit him several times in the legs with the bucket causing very serious injuries. The 118 and the Carabinieri arrived immediately on the scene. The sixty-year-old, however, ran away and was later tracked down and arrested for attempted murder. The 49-year-old, on the other hand, was hospitalized at Brotzu: he has a prognosis of 60 days.
