«At the moment there are indeed inconveniences. But with an extraordinary plan we hope to eliminate all waiting times in the next 8 months."

The promise comes from the ASL of Cagliari, which is working to give an answer to over 11 thousand users - hundreds are cancer patients, around 20 thousand in all of Sardinia - who have been waiting for months for the meeting of the medical commission for the certification of their disability , necessary to benefit from aid and concessions.

HERE IS THE NEWS:

The system ran aground in October, to the point of total paralysis, after the Region had forced doctors to carry out the service during service hours and not outside, with the payment of a fee. Now the machine has been unblocked «thanks to the change in legislation, law 1 of 5 February 2024, which now allows us to recruit a greater number of doctors», explains the general director of the ASL of Cagliari Marcello Tidore, who continues: « The commissions continued to operate, albeit with a very limited number of sessions, as the previous legislation did not allow us to benefit from the services of a considerable number of doctors".

«At the moment there are inconveniences», explains the new Director of the Prevention Department Giuseppe Sechi, «but we are overcoming them with an extraordinary plan to reduce waiting times. In the same way, we will try to improve communication to citizens to ensure that patients have certain dates, with the aim of eliminating all waiting times in the next 8 months. Clearly, priority will be given, with a preferential lane, to cancer patients", is the reassurance. Thousands of fragile Sardinians, and their relatives, await a call.
