With the “summer” over, territorial continuity flights are taking off from the Riviera del Corallo airport and little else . «The situation at Alghero airport, especially for the winter season, is more than a cause for concern, also for employment levels», comments Michele Pais, regional coordinator of the League and municipal councilor of Alghero, for whom «it is necessary for the Region to deploy all the tools within its possibilities to support the right to mobility of citizens and the entrepreneurial sector of the north-west of Sardinia, which is particularly compromised today, in an airport where flights under continuity are barely guaranteed».

The danger is that the Alghero terminal will be transformed into a seasonal stopover . "What the Transport Councillor can certainly do immediately is to try to direct the 30 million euro package allocated in the last budget adjustment by the centre-right towards the Catalan stopover, to the maximum extent permitted by law, for the opening of new national and international routes, strengthening European routes", suggests Pais.

«If Councilor Cuccureddu identifies the airports of Olbia and Cagliari as the most attractive stopovers for the US market, it is clear that there must be compensation for Alghero on European routes, as has always been the case historically, especially in the winter period», concludes the League councilor.
