In the evening the carriageways reopened in both directions but the overtaking lanes were still closed for the restoration of the central barrierVideo di Ignazio Pillosu
Over 12 hours of work. That's how long the operations lasted on state road 131, near Villagreca, where a truck overturned during the night. The Carlo Felice was closed in the direction of Cagliari, while towards Sassari a temporary two-way traffic was established - in the affected section - with brief total traffic closures that occurred during the crane's movements. The removal of the vehicle was completed shortly after 5:00 p.m., but the road was reopened only after 7:30 p.m. with traffic channeled onto the driving lanes only. The overtaking lane in both directions remained closed to allow the central barrier to be restored.
Since the early hours of the morning, long queues have formed, especially in the direction of Sassari, with traffic that at certain times of the day has come to a standstill. Even the alternative traffic on the surrounding roads has been greatly affected by the increase in traffic.
The accident occurred at 4:30 am at the crossroads that leads to Villagreca, at kilometre 29 of the 131. It was a refrigerated truck, owned by a transport company from Northern Sardinia, with fruit and vegetables inside. The driver, who was slightly injured, lost control of the truck and invaded the side ditch. It then ended up in a ditch and overturned .
Anas teams and law enforcement intervened on site for several hours to manage traffic and restore the guardrail, which was broken by the truck.
