More than 500 road accidents since the beginning of 2022, including 25 caused by drunk drivers. Alarming figures, considering that in all of 2021, which had marked a record of accidents, there were 1015.

This is what the local police found in Sassari , once again on the front line with checks at all hours, and reinforced at the weekend.

“Unfortunately, the data tell of a dramatic situation - comments the commander Gianni Serra -. Even very young drivers in a state of psychophysical alteration that cause accidents, often with serious consequences, for themselves, for those who are in the car with them and for those who unfortunately meet them ”.

The Command of via Carlo Felice reminds you that you can have fun without endangering your own life and that of others: "If you do not want to take a taxi, public transport or do not want to move on foot, it is better to identify at the beginning of the evening a person from the group who does not drink and who can bring everyone back home safely ”.

CRITICALITIES - The data collected by the Command of via Carlo Felice show that the greatest criticalities are recorded along the connection lines between the urban center and the extra-urban roads on which the control devices will be activated as a priority. Since the beginning of the year, with almost daily checks, 245 penalties have been raised, mainly on Octave (111) and on Buddi Budd i (98).

PREVENTION - For years now, the local Police has been carrying out the road safety campaign "Transparency Operation" , with which it indicates the areas in which the patrols are positioned with the telelaser to check the speed and at the same time the state of psycho-physical alteration. The goal is to prevent people from running or driving drunk.

CONTROLS - Currently the controls are active in via Predda Niedda ; via Buddi Buddi ; via Budapest ; SP 18 Pallets ; via Pirandello ; former. SS. 131, locality Ottava ; via Domenico Millelire ; via Carlo Felice ; via Papa Giovanni XXIII , and will go on until May 31 and will be extended to evening and night hours as well as being strengthened on weekends.

Precisely on the subject of road safety, a training course is being held in these days at the Local Police Headquarters which involves over twenty commands in Northern Sardinia and among the teachers Giandomenico Protospataro , director of the Ministry of the Interior and among the members of the commission parliamentarian for the reform of the highway code.
