On August 12th, the Municipality of Osilo is preparing to host one of the most anticipated events of the Sardinian summer: the historic Corsa all'Anello, one of the island's oldest and most spectacular equestrian events, which annually attracts thousands of spectators from across the region and the mainland. Along the traditional Via Roma, starting in the late afternoon, over 50 horsemen and horsewomen will compete in a test that combines skill, precision, and courage.
For Mayor Ligios, it's "an event that represents us and that every year attracts thousands of people from all over Sardinia. Osilo is increasingly playing a leading role in the international jousting scene." The goal is to hit one of the three rings suspended along the track with a wooden sword, covering the 100 meters in under 9 seconds . An electronic timing system will ensure maximum transparency.
"Every year, Osilo welcomes thousands of people, and it's a moment of pride and great responsibility for us," says Mayor Ligios. " The Corsa all'Anello is much more than a competition: it's our way of expressing who we are, of promoting our region, our culture, and our community . Osilo is increasingly playing a leading role in the equestrian jousting scene, even internationally." Around the race, a day entirely dedicated to the public will be held, with local food and wine stands, visits to the castle, and musical performances culminating in the evening after-show.
The administration's goal is to offer an authentic and immersive experience, in the heart of authentic Sardinia, combining tradition, hospitality, and entertainment . "This year's edition is particularly significant for me," says Councilor Patrizia Puggioni. "It's the fifteenth time I've supported the organization of the Corsa all'Anello, an event I've seen grow year after year, both in terms of participation and in relationships with other entities, such as the friendship pact with the Municipality of Narni. We're also celebrating a significant milestone: 30 years of direct organization by the Municipality, which has transformed the center of Osilo into a showcase of history, identity, and tradition ."
The day will conclude with a major musical event in Piazza San Valentino, opening with a live performance dedicated to the legendary '90s. The band The 90 Hits will take the stage, led by the powerful voice of Gianna Dettori, known for her live experience as a backing vocalist for Ice Mc, an international dance icon of the '90s. The repertoire will revive the timeless hits that got an entire generation dancing, from "Corona" to "Haddaway," including "Snap!" and "Gigi D'Agostino," in a burst of energy and nostalgia. This will be followed by the official Corsa all'Anello aftershow, presented by Radio 105 – I Love Formentera.
Renowned producer Roberto Milani and Paolino, the station's longtime voice, will take turns on stage, appearing every weekend on Radio 105 with two hours of high-energy dance music. This captivating musical and stage production will transform Osilo into a veritable entertainment hub, with summer sounds, lights, and a desire to dance under the stars .
