The funeral of Luca Goddi , the 47-year-old man murdered last Friday while he was in the village to attend the funeral of a friend, took place this morning in the parish church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Orune.

Waiting for the coffin that arrived from Nuoro at 11.00, where the autopsy was performed yesterday, in addition to the community of Oruno, were the mayor Giovanna Porcu and the councilor for culture Giuliana Pittalis . Accompanied by family members (three of the brothers plus a sister who live in Tuscany, and a brother who lives and works in Orune), the former partner with whom Luca Goddi had a son, the closest relatives and friends, the remains of the deceased have made their entrance into a crowded and silent church.

The celebration, officiated by Don Andrea Biancu, parish priest of Santa Maria Maggiore, was attended by Don Totoni Cosseddu and Don Antonello Corrias, parish priest of the church of San Giovanni Battista in Budoni. At the opening of the mass Don Andrea read the message sent for the occasion by the Bishop of the diocese of Nuoro Monsignor Antonello Mura, who expressed deep condolences and closeness to the relatives of the victim and to the community of Orune , inviting everyone not to resign before the sowers of hatred and death since the face of this community cannot be outlined by the bad conscience of those who do evil.

In his homily Don Andrea quoted the verses of the prayer to the Virgin of Consolation "Su Cossolu" whose celebrations dedicated to it were being prepared in the days when Luca Goddi was killed: «Consolate our anguished spirit in the midst of so many dangers that threaten us and restore to our country that peace that the scourge of hatred and revenge has made disappear from our homes!»
