Serious accident at work this morning around 7.30 in the marble quarries of Orosei . A 57-year-old worker, who was working with the excavator, fell nine meters into an excavation in the “Oroe” area.
He suffered a thoracic trauma and various fractures, but he is not in danger of life: he was brought to the surface by the firefighters and transported with the 118 helicopter rescue to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari.
The carabinieri of the Orosei station also intervened on the spot.
THE RECONSTRUCTION - According to the first findings, the worker was maneuvering the heavy vehicle used for cutting the stone blocks when, reversing, inadvertently ended up in the terrace below.
Wedged between the metal sheets, the 57-year-old was freed by the firefighters and rescued by the 118 health personnel.
