Tragedy touched in via Carpaccio, in Oristano , in the late morning of today. The trunk of a large tree split at the base and collapsed onto a parked car , ending up on the roadway. Fortunately at that moment no one was occupying the passenger compartment and the road was deserted.

It was the owner of the car himself who alerted the Fire Brigade, who immediately intervened with a team to secure the area. The men of the provincial command first cut the fronds and then sawed and removed the trunk.

Extensive damage to the car, a Renault: the wind and the rains of the last few hours have caused the detachment which could have had very serious consequences.

The cypress was located on the edge of the park in Viale Repubblica, frequented by teenagers and children. The councilor for the environment Maria Bonaria Zedda and the sole administrator of Oristano Servizi Ludovica Pau carried out an inspection on the spot. "We will take care to intensify controls to prevent such episodes from occurring again," said the latter.

The pruning of the foliage is one of the tasks of Oristano Servizi, an in-house company of the Municipality, but the lack of personnel and the absence of a director (after the dismissal of Davide Atzori) make management of the green areas difficult.
