Oristano, the storks in the lands of thermodynamics
Appeal from the Committee: «This is an agricultural area, away with industrial settlements»Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The two white storks that were spotted yesterday in the countryside of Tiria and San Quirico seemed to show themselves in all their beauty. «And above all they seem to want to say “hands off these lands” » repeats Antonello Garau, spokesperson for the Committee for the protection and quality of life. Yes, because the lands chosen by the storks to build their nests are the same ones where San Quirico solar power (the Sardinian branch of the CLP project of Bolzano) would like to build a hybrid solar thermodynamic plant .
A system for the production of electricity through solar panels and a biomass plant (which should burn 75 tons of wood per day). An investment of over 80 million euros that could create new jobs and a significant induced effect. The citizens together with the Municipalities of Oristano, Palmas, Villaurbana, Siamanna, the Province and other associations have fought. In 2019 the Region did not grant the single authorization due to the lack of available areas; the company appeals and the case continues with appeals. In recent days, a ruling by the TAR has given Solar Power the right to consider that the agreement signed with the Municipality of Oristano in 2014 is still valid. Now we are waiting for the ruling by the Council of State.
Beyond the legal battles, the clearest answer comes from those two splendid storks . "Here we also have the little bustard - repeats Antonello Garau - this is an agricultural area, with a delicate environmental balance that cannot be endangered by an industrial plant of a purely speculative nature".
