The political signal came clearly from the Oristano City Council chamber: the session dedicated to the 2026-2028 budget was adjourned due to lack of a quorum . This wasn't a coincidental absence, but a deliberate decision. The majority supporting Mayor Massimiliano Sanna didn't show up in the chamber and, barring any surprises, won't be at tomorrow's session either. Everything has been postponed to the second-convocation session on the 19th.

A political choice, made amidst tensions within the center-right. The UDC, PSDA, and Brothers of Italy parties are demanding the head of Urban Planning and Roads Councilor Ivano Cuccu. This request has put the most important action of the year on hold, turning the budget into a battleground.

The postponement is intended to gain time and attempt mediation. But the rift is evident and risks having repercussions that extend beyond the Palazzo degli Scolopi.

If Cuccu were to be ousted, his party colleagues Roberto Pisanu and Giuliano Uras would leave the majority in the City Council. And repercussions cannot be ruled out in the Province, where Uras supports the president, representing the Brothers of Italy party and carrying the Forza Italia banner. This political entanglement makes the crisis even more delicate. For now, the budget is postponed to the 19th. But the session adjourned due to the absence of the majority reflects an ongoing crisis, still awaiting a political solution.
