A wave of affection and solidarity to honor the smile and courage of a boy who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. In less than 24 hours, the Oristano community responded with extraordinary energy to the appeal launched by the friends of Luigi Scognamiglio, the young 22-year-old student who passed away a few days ago after a tough battle against an illness: over a thousand donations and more than 17 thousand euros collected on the GoFundMe platform. The initiative was promoted, among others, by the organizers of the Catte Cup, the popular seven-a-side football tournament that lights up the fields of Oristano every summer and that “Scogna” - as his friends called him - had always followed with enthusiasm.
“Luigi always brought light and positivity to the lives of those around him and in his memory we want to continue to spread love and hope”. The funds raised will be donated in part to the Hospice Angela Nonnis, where Luigi was cared for with love and professionalism in the last days of his life, and in part to AIRC, the Italian Association for Cancer Research, in the hope that “other people can benefit from where he has been treated and researched”, it continues. The initiative quickly exceeded all expectations, mobilizing hundreds of people, from schoolmates to athletes, to ordinary citizens touched by his story. “Each donation - write the promoters - represents an act of love and solidarity that will allow us to leave a positive mark, just as Luigi did with his life”.
