A veritable earthquake shakes the Sartiglia less than a month before the race on Via Duomo.

Just hours before the selections at the Cort'e Baccas track, yesterday evening, news broke that no one expected: during the riders' meeting, the entire board of directors, led by president Ignazio Nonnis, resigned with immediate effect. A terse message, posted late that evening in the joust's chat room—"Communications to follow"—officially sealed the split.

The timing is no coincidence. The resignations came immediately after news of the purchase of protective equipment spread, a decision that, while not mandating its use on the track, was perceived by many as a concrete step toward denaturing tradition. But the new selection procedures, with a passing grade criterion for a spot in the parade, also reportedly caused some discontent.

At this point, the most immediate impact of the crisis risks impacting the calendar. The selections that were supposed to determine the order of the knights in the jousts led by the Farmers' Guild, with Daniele Mattu on Componidori, on Sunday, and by the Carpenters' Guild, led by Graziano Pala on Tuesday, are now seriously at risk. The absence of a board of directors and the tense climate make the completion of a key organizational step uncertain, just as the countdown to the race enters its most delicate phase.
