"A minute's silence for those who are no longer here and to remember the most important battle of civilization regarding the right to health and environmental protection".

The Ex exposed asbestos association celebrated the World Day for Safety at Work in Oristano : a laurel wreath was placed in front of the monument commemorating the victims of the killer fibre, in the roundabout in via Pietri.

The ceremony was attended by some mayors of the area , the councilor for the environment of the Municipality of Oristano Maria Bonaria Zedda, representatives of the police forces and the families of some workers who disappeared precisely because of the damage caused by the prolonged
exposure to eternity.

"Unfortunately still today there are many accidents at work - said the president of the association Giampaolo Lilliu - occupational diseases are on the rise and it cannot be defined as a coincidence".

In his speech, the representative of the ex exposed recalled the tiring battle that led, through the approval of national law 257 of '92, to the closure of the factories and the blocking of the extraction and marketing of asbestos cement.

"We need a health system that guarantees the right to health for all citizens - concluded Lilliu - the road is difficult, but not impossible".
