The Carabinieri of the Nucleo Operativo and Radiomobile of Oristano have reported the woman who on 6 August ran over a young man on a scooter on the provincial road to Nuraxinieddu for failure to rescue.

The hit-and-run driver, an unemployed 46-year-old of Dominican origins and resident in Zerfaliu , was aboard the Ford Fiesta which ran over an 18-year-old from Oristano last Sunday, aboard his electric scooter. After the accident, the woman did not stop to help the young man.

During the on-site inspection, the military found the remains of the front light of a car. These made it possible to trace the model of the vehicle sought. Thanks to the images of the surveillance cameras installed in some municipalities of the province, a dozen compatible cars have been selected. In particular, a Ford Fiesta, shortly before the time of impact (around 10.00 pm on 6 August) was captured in the McDonald's area of via Cagliari, with a woman on board. The vehicle then left for the crossroads for Nuraxinieddu.

Once the license plate was detected, the owner was identified. The woman yesterday spontaneously presented herself to the Oristano Carabinieri Command to report herself, confirming what the investigators discovered. According to her statements, she would not have stopped because she was afraid and convinced that she had run over an animal. He would only find out what had happened the next day, reading the news in the newspapers. Following an inspection of the car, subject to criminal seizure, compatibility was also found between the fragments of the light found at the scene of the accident.

Further investigations are underway to trace any responsibilities of other subjects and of the driver of the scooter himself, which circulated on the extra-urban provincial road without a cycle path.
