Oristano mourns Giovanni Brai, chef and owner of the historic Il Faro restaurant. For years his restaurant in via Bellini, in the city centre, has welcomed thousands of visitors with elegance and professionalism, also hosting presidents of the Republic (Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, Francesco Cossiga, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi) and other important state officials visiting the island.
Giovanni Brai has received awards and recognition for years with his recipes and dishes, and Espresso has rated him as the best restaurant in Sardinia for some time. And it also received a Michelin star, the only one on the island together with another restaurant.
The lighthouse had closed its doors about ten years ago, but the memory of Giovanni Brai (who had been living in London with his children for some time) has always remained alive in all the people of Oristano.
